Buxus 'Katerberg' PP#15'998 Plant Patent #15,988. Cultivar name: 'Katerburg' If you live in a cold-winter climate and have watched Boxwoods suffer in severe temperatures, North Star is the cultivar your landscape has been waiting for. Bred in Michigan and ready to tackle the toughest winters, North Star is nicely shaped, vigorous, and very adaptable. Many Boxwoods turn brown or lose their luster during winter, but not North Star. Its small, dark green leaves remain glossy and very abundant, and the plant itself remains nicely rounded, as if you'd just pruned it. In fact, pruning is never necessary unless you wish to trim the shrub into a specific shape -- it always looks formal and symmetrical! Just 24 to 32 inches high and 3 to 4 feet wide, North Star forms a very well-branched rounded mound that makes a fine low hedge, accent planting, container choice, or front line for the shrub border. It thrives in sun or shade, and is quite adaptable to varying soil types. You will even find it drought-tolerant! North Star was bred by Gary Katerburg, and has proven a dependable, vigorous performer in gardens throughout its hardiness range. Give it a try in yours this season! Zones 5-7. Item Form: Quart Height: 2 Feet Width: 2 - 3 Feet Sun Exposure: Full Sun, Part Shade Hardiness Zones: 5 - 7 Additional Attributes: Cold Hardy, Drought Tolerant, Evergreen, Easy Care Plants, Containers, Border, Hedge, Foliage Interest
