Pennisetum alopecuroides Difficult to find and treasured by gardeners, this copper-bloomed Pennisetum (Fountain Grass) is a long-lived, colorful presence in the hot, dry garden. With long buff-to-tan-colored summer blooms that turn rich yellow in fall, it is a striking specimen or accent planting. Forming a very dense, rounded clump 2 to 3 feet tall and 18 inches wide, this Fountain Grass gently arches under the weight of its long, thick, feathery plumes. The flowers are magnificent, about 8 to 12 inches long and of a soft, airy appearance. Rippling in the summer breeze, they seem to lighten the garden, adding both color and architectural effect. And when the weather turns cool in fall, the blooms mellow to a deep yellow that lasts for weeks and is lovely in arrangements! Plant in full sun and in dry soil, even poorly fertile types. Once established, this perennial is largely maintenance-free. Item Form: 4 inch pot Height: 2 - 3 feet Width: 2 - 3 feet Sun Exposure: Full Sun Hardiness Zones: 5 - 9 Additional Attributes: Disease Resistant, Bird Lovers, Everlastings, Border, Beds, Ornamental
