Hedera helix

A workhorse for large areas, particularly slopes and borders, English Ivy forms a no-maintenance, weed-choking groundcover you will love for many years to come. It grows easily in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils in part to full shade. It will tolerate a wide range of soils, but prefers rich loams. This vigorous, fast-growing, evergreen, woody perennial tolerates some drought, but produces best foliage color in evenly moist soil. Its dark leaves reach 2 to 3 inches wide. Space 4 to 8 inches apart.
